Nanosanjesh Anti-Corrosion Coating
The phenomenon of corrosion occurs in many other compounds, including non-metallic ones such as ceramics, polymers, composites and cement products. But its effects on metals are so severe that it often reminds us of the intense rusting of metal surfaces
Anti-corrosion coatings generally refer to compounds used to protect metals. These coatings create resistance to various corrosive agents, increasing the durability of metals.
The primary cause of corrosion and rusting is the environment. Therefore, the protective measures cannot stop the degradation process or reverse the damage caused. However, they can help reduce the rate of metal degradation.
The interactions between the metal and the environment in which it is placed are responsible for the electrochemical reactions that cause corrosion. An insulating layer is often applied to the metal surface, acting as a protective barrier between the metal and the atmosphere to prevent further degradation. The common mechanism of all anti-corrosion measures to inhibit corrosion and rusting involves the formation of a coating which is often a passive layer that prevents the corrosive material from reaching the metal.
Annually, approximately 5% of the Gross Domestic Product in Iran is spent on compensating for the costs caused by corrosion and the protection against it. To prevent and reduce these costs, anti-corrosion coatings are used.
To address corrosion and erosion issues in the oil, gas, and petrochemical industries, the use of suitable protective coatings is essential. These coatings must be capable of resisting various types of corrosion, like chemical, electrochemical, and microbiological corrosion.
Anti-Corrosion Additives
With the emergence of nanomaterials, significant advancements have been made in protective coatings against corrosion. The application of nanocomposite coatings is also rapidly expanding. They are used in sectors such as aerospace, marine, automotive, sensor technology, dental implants, and electronics. This wide range of applications highlights the adaptability and potential of nanocomposite coatings across various industries.
